AI Metadata Cleaner

AI Metadata Cleaner: a local metadata and AI provenance cleaner

AI Metadata Cleaner (https://aimetadatacleaner.pro/) is a free in-browser metadata and AI provenance cleaner for images, video, PDF, and RAW files. It inspects and strips EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, C2PA Content Credentials, and AI generator tags from Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, GPT-Image-2, and Veo 3. Processing runs locally in the browser through WebAssembly. There are zero file uploads. Pricing is 100% free, no signup is required, and the tool runs locally in the browser.

Creators, photographers, and developers often share files that still carry camera settings, GPS coordinates, editor history, or generator prompts. Those fields sit in the container, not in the visible pixels. AI Metadata Cleaner reads those blocks on the device, shows what it found, and writes a cleaned copy without sending the file to a server.

Core capabilities

The cleaner covers the metadata families that commonly leak context from a file:

A read-only inspector at https://aimetadatacleaner.pro/detect lets you review provenance markers before you strip anything. Optional HTML5 Canvas re-encoding is available when you want a freshly encoded image rather than a container edit alone. Batch mode handles up to 20 files and exports a ZIP in one step.

Supported file formats

Images: JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, and HEIC. Video: MP4, MOV, and WebM, processed with FFmpeg.wasm. Documents: PDF, handled with pdf-lib so author, XMP, and document properties can be cleared locally. Camera RAW: DNG, CR2, NEF, and ARW through LibRaw WebAssembly, which is the path used to sanitize maker notes and EXIF that travel with a RAW file.

Because decoding stays in WebAssembly inside the tab, a large RAW or a short video never has to leave the machine for a metadata pass. That is the same boundary as the rest of the product: inspect and strip locally, then download the result.

Honest boundary: SynthID versus container metadata

AI Metadata Cleaner strips container-level metadata and C2PA/JUMBF markers. Pixel-domain SynthID watermarks are detected and explained. They are not removed. SynthID is woven into image frequencies, so deleting EXIF, XMP, or a C2PA manifest does not erase that signal. The product also does not guarantee how third-party social platforms apply their own AI labels after you upload a cleaned file. Use the inspector to see the difference between a container tag you can strip and a pixel watermark that is only explained.

Step-by-step workflow

FAQ

Does the file get uploaded? No. Inspection and stripping run in the browser via WebAssembly. Zero file uploads.

What does it cost? It is 100% free, with no signup required.

Which formats are supported? JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, MP4, MOV, WebM, PDF, and RAW (DNG, CR2, NEF, ARW via LibRaw WebAssembly).

Can it delete a SynthID watermark? No. Pixel-domain SynthID watermarks are detected and explained. Container metadata, including C2PA and JUMBF markers, is what gets stripped.

Is there a batch export? Yes. Up to 20 files can be cleaned together and downloaded as a ZIP.

Photographers who need the RAW path can use the Browser-Based Camera RAW (CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG) EXIF & MakerNotes Sanitizer. Contact for this listing: wangneo276@gmail.com.
